Mosaic Tile Company of Zanesville, Ohio, was started by Karl Langerbeck and Herman Mueller in 1894. Frederick Hurten Rhead, the famous potter, worked at Mosaic Tile Company from 1922 to 1923. Many types of plain and ornamental tiles were made until 1959. The company closed in 1967. The company also made some ashtrays, bookends, and related giftwares. Length: 13.5 in. These were not marked, but very recognizable and identifiable as Mosaic. These were very difficult to mold & most have manufacturing flaws, I can not find any flaws on this one. No chips or cracks, base is not warped as many are. Glaze is very nice with very light crazing. The sculpture itself weighs over 5 pounds, very impressive item. To ind one is rare enough but to find one in this condition is very rare. This item is in the category “Pottery & Glass\Decorative Pottery & Glassware\Figurines”.
